Global Scholars Program CIFAR AZRIELI of the Canadian government
This is a wonderful chance for you to continue your academic education in Canada. Outstanding early-career researchers from the natural, biological, social, and humanities are invited to apply to the CIFAR AZRIELI Global Scholars Program to participate in one of their multidisciplinary research programs that tackle some of the most pressing issues confronting science and humankind.
The CIFAR
A global research organization called CIFAR (formerly the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research) brings together groups of the best scientists from all around the globe to tackle challenging problems. It was established in 1982 and receives financing from the federal government of Canada, the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec, as well as from individuals, foundations, and businesses.
More than 400 researchers from 22 countries and more than 130 institutions are supported by the CIFAR team. The researchers are split evenly between Canada and other countries. For approving research projects and allocating funds, the President and CEO are directly answerable to the Chair and the Board of Directors. Alan Bernstein was appointed president and CEO in May 2012. The Board of Directors of CIFAR is presided by by William L. Young. Governments, partnerships (research institutions and universities), the private sector (corporations, foundations, and individuals), and investment income all contribute to the support of CIFAR. The yearly budget for CIFAR in 2018 was $30M. 2017 saw the Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy being developed and led by CIFAR.
